Center for Security Policy President Frank Gaffney, a frequent guest on Breitbart News Daily, has come out strongly against the nomination of Exxon-Mobil chairman Rex Tillerson for Secretary of State. In his own Secure Freedom Minute podcast, Gaffney saw Tillersons nomination as President-elect Donald Trumps first serious misstep, due to his business and personal connections with Russian President Vladimir Putin:
Donald Trump has lined up an impressive array of demonstrably capable people to fill the senior ranks of his administration. His instincts have served him well, until now.
In the face of a political firestorm fanned by reports that the U.S. intelligence community is convinced Vladimir Putins Russia interfered in the recent presidential election campaign, Mr. Trump is considering making Exxon-Mobil chairman Rex Tillerson his Secretary of State. While Mr. Tillerson is clearly an extraordinary executive, his business dealings and personal ties with Putin would make him a real liability for the President-elect.
Three Republican Senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Marco Rubio have already expressed concerns about a Tillerson nomination. Thats enough to sink it. More will doubtless pile on.
At this time especially, Mr. Trump needs a Secretary of State unencumbered by any perceived pro-Kremlin alignment. So does our country.

Headline of the Day Poll
Is Rex Tillerson a good pick for Secretary of State?
No, he is too close to Russia’s Vladimir Putin
Yes, he has tremendous experience in international trade
What does he add? Bolton can do it. This guy has too much baggage.
I have a problem with Islam. I don’t have a problem with Russia.
Didnt we beat Russia in the Cold War for a reason?
...
I thought we beat the Soviet Union.
Trump is spending his political capital too fast.
Rorabacher is another no-no for SoS if Trump either pulls Tillerson later or he flops. And Trump had better fill the spot quick before he gets to office. We need an SOS.
The USSR and Putinist Russia both opposed US hegemony; that’s as good as the same thing.
And on Islam, Russia almost always takes the side of the OIC at the UN, loves the Palestinians, gives Iran nuke building ability, so they’re not helping on that front. Also, they’re not taking refugees nor are they offering to.
Bingo!
Look, these people hate Putin because he is a nationalist, and thumbs his nose at the globalist agenda.
Trump understands that. He knows Putin is a tough guy that will do whatever advances his agenda. But Trump respects that, and feels he can deal with him . . . in some ways better than with the smarmy back-stabbing globalists.
Why is Rorabacher a no-no?
????? Rex Tillerson Is Wrong Man for State?????
Because the selection standards that gave us Secretaries of State like Madeleine Albright, Connie Rice, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry have worked out so well for the nation.
How very compelling.
Look, everyone, I have a news flash for you. There's no way that every Trump supporter is going to be delighted with every single nomination that he makes.
So I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that we give President-elect Trump the benefit of the doubt and let him have his choice of nominees.
If there's any real problem with any of these nominees, I'm sure our beloved US Senate will adequately fulfill its "advise and consent" role...
Yes, I prefer Bolton.
I am good with the non-GOPe Tillerson.
Look, these people hate Putin because he is a nationalist, and thumbs his nose at the globalist agenda.
As if a mass murdering KGB dirtbag like Putin is any better than the “globalists”
What does he add? Bolton can do it. This guy has too much baggage.
Chamber of Commerce connections. Trump will need their muscle to get his pick confirmed.
” Mr. Trump needs a Secretary of State unencumbered by any perceived pro-Kremlin alignment. So does our country.”
I would rather have a guy out there representing our country who maintains a quality rapport with our enemies as well as our allies, and Tillerson appears to be that person.
He knows the World players, and he knows he’s got a boss covering his back. Now all he needs is someone on our side that knows the Sec. of State staff, and their idiotsyncracies to go in there, and kick some butt. I think Bolton would do the job as Undersecretary of State quite well.

Exactly. Trump has just handed the Dems a loaded weapon to rain all over his inauguration. And in the meantime the rest of the world will look on and assume that it’s now not a good time to be an ally of the United States. Nothing good will come of this.
We technically beat them, but the Soviets won the long-term war in undermining our culture and education system with leftist degeneracy, anti-Judeo-Christian hate, and brainwashing, even after they fell.
Given that the troika of McQueeg, Linda & Bubbles were quite happy with Zero (or helping Hillary), I’d say their opinion on this subject isn’t worth a pile of manure.
