At first, I couldnt understand how anyone could be undecided. The distinction between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton was so clear to me, the gap so wide. Much to my surprise, it was easy to find the Undecideds: people who had significant enough reservations about both candidates that they were searching for a sign, looking for more information, or just waiting it out until November. ++SNIP++ There was one moment when I saw more undecided voters shift to Trump than any other, when it all changed, when voters began to speak differently about their choice. It wasnt FBI Director James Comey, Part One or Part Two; it wasnt Benghazi or the e-mails or Bill Clintons visit with Attorney General Loretta Lynch on the tarmac. No, the conversation shifted the most during the weekend of Sept. 9, after Clinton said, You can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the basket of deplorable. All hell broke loose.

Deplorable became a badge of honor
Not only did “Deplorables” become a badge of honor, but the effect of Obamacare was huge in the hit to working class incomes. This woman reported her info to the Clinton campaign. And was ignored.
Deplorables. That’s the term that changed the election’s momentum. Do you remember the effect that news clip had on you? I do. Racist, intolerant, xenophobic Deplorables.
Wow, that is actually heartbreakingly sad.
When My Grandmother passed away in 2005, the last thing she told me was that she wished there were more Great-Grandkids (at the time she had 15)
And it happened nearly instantly.
Neither of these quotes made any difference to the true partisans on either side, but they were critical in swaying the Undecideds, who seem to take personally any glib insults that are thrown against half of their fellow citizens.
Yeah, “never saw a woman prez” is a bit of a fake factoid, to be sure.
When my Grams died, she told me she wished she’d put in more overtime at the Solyndra factory.
I keep reading about all the excuses why Hillary lost or Trump won. The true bottom line is Trump went to the people and Hillary waited for the people to come to her. She never went to Wisconsin, barely visited Michigan and only went to Pennsylvania on nights she had fund raisers.
Like every liberal, Hillary refused to do the work required to hold high office. Basically like Obama she phoned it in and relied on everyone in the MSM to carry her water. Didn’t quite work out for her.
They weren’t ever undecided. These voters simply thought it was their right to keep their secret ballot secret.
Idiot pollsters never understood that.
“Deplorables” was the harridan’s Romney 47% moment.
I call BS on his claim. Even screaming feminists I have known did not claim that as a regret.
It’s a good piece. The last two campaigns have once again taught us the number one rule of politics: do not insult the voters!
That was the turning point weekend. The Deplorables comment on Friday and her appearance at the 9-11 memorial service on Sunday.
You’re absolutely right; the enemedia made it difficult to publicly support Trump. In fact, I don’t recall any previous election during which I saw so few lawn signs or bumper stickers. The media tried to shame people from publicly supporting Trump, while Hillary’s corruption made it difficult to publicly support her.
I’m glad Romney made the 47% comment; if nothing more, it gave taxpayers a heads-up as to how many people they were supporting - and that those people would continue voting themselves a share of our income. It was an uncomfortable truth.
Yes it was but only Trump could have gotten away with making it.
Romney never really defended it.
I thought Romney DID defend it - and paid a price. Trump never said it because of the political cost; apparently some of those 47% voted for him (or at least didn’t vote for Hillary) in some key states.
If he was perceived as a threat to the welfare state, he most assuredly would have driven up Hillary’s numbers in Philadelphia and Detroit (probably costing him both states).
I think there was another unreported element of Hillary’s gushing support.
“Recreational Lesbianism” or bisexuality is very popular on many college campuses. Ugly girls away from home are now measured for the first time by whether not not they can get dates on Saturday night.
When they fail, and have no moral compass, but still get horny, it’s now socially acceptable to cuddle up and exchange orgasms with their female dorm mate on Saturday night, especially after a few beers.
That then becomes a “safe” way to get through college.
They still plan to date men and get married after they graduate, but their no-love lesbianism gets them through 4 years of college that their “babied” and overly protected life full of “participation medals” did not prepare then for.
The participants in this scheme are called LUGs, “Lesbians Until Graduation.”
The problem is, when they graduate, they are still fat, ugly, wear thick glasses and pantsuits, their degree in Gender Studies gets them nothing more than a job at Whattaburger.... and they wonder why no men are interested.
So they politically retreat to the person who tells them it’s all the fault of white men, and she still loves them, their “Political Mother,” Hillary, who lets them suck on the breast of motherly projected pity.... in exchange for their loud and mindless love and support.
And this is the generation America’s colleges and universities have given us.
Romney made a huge number of other mistakes also.
You simply don’t alienate potential voters which is the point I was trying to make.
Hillary and Romney made those mistakes.
You stick with running against your opponent.
That’s gross; I’ve never heard of it, but can certainly believe it.
These snowflakettes pay a huge price for our open borders; they are not the only fish in the sea...
