Buenos Aires is trying to crack down on violence and harassment by fining men catcalling women on the street.
The Argentinian capitals council passed a measure this week saying lewd commenters giving what locals call piropos, or compliments, will be charged between 200 ($12.50) and 1,000 pesos ($62).
Comments about someones body, photographs without consent, nonconsensual contact, public masturbation and obscene gestures are all included under the law.

Its stated aim is targeting those who generally affect the dignity, the liberty, the freedom of movement and the right to physical or moral integrity of people based on their gender and sexual orientation, according to Clarin.
Penalties also include between two and 10 days of community service as long as the underlying offense is not a crime to be prosecuted at trial.
The law that passed Wednesday will take effect in four months after a growing protest movement calling for a stop to violence against women.
Tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in October after the death of Lucia Perez, a 16-year-old raped and murdered in the city of Mar del Plata.
The Ni Una Menos (Not One Less) movement says that a woman in Argentina is killed every 30 hours for being a woman, and that the violence stems from pervasive societal views about gender including "piropos."
Argentinian President Mauricio Macri said while he was mayor of Buenos Aires that women liked catcalls and being complimented on their behinds.
He later apologized and last month hosted a meeting with the families of those victimized by sexual violence.
One day the women will wonder why no nice men compliment them.
Sign this form first so I can compliment you.
Nothing government can’t screw up even more.
Neutered
I think blow-back against this law will be forceful, and immediate.
I predict it will be promptly repealed.
The 13 y/o in me snickers and says, “He said “Blow-Back!”
The Government will go after the Falklands again when it fails.
Here, kitty, kitty, kitty,...
“public masturbation”
Somewhere in the city that never sleeps, ‘Carlos Danger’just sat up in bed and said, “Well butter my butt and call me Sally!”

Rumor has it, Carlos wouldn't be able to cough up air fare to Buenos Aires. He had to check out of sex rehab due to lack of funds. LOL!
Fat chance of that law working! Especially in Latin culture
Opposite of shamming? Aren’t the women already sexed up? I only see Univision TV - regularly.
Oh, I thought “catcaller” was an occupation, something on the order of “ratcatcher.”
None of the men who propositioned me on the street or said things like “Shake that ass, baby,” were nice men. None of them.
Ther is a vast difference between cat calling and groin rubbing of strangers and “you look very nice today” of a friend or lover.
I wonder if this post is from a died in wool misogynist and perhaps abuser. I think I hope I never meet you.
Law passed by jealous ugly women.
Where I live the worst offenders are Mexicans
Second place is way back
Millennial educated white men are scared to catcall or they aren’t that horny
A confession:
I never cat called hardly.....but I looked ..I looked a lot
Still do
It’s our nature
If you have total testosterone over 90....
Only one of those women is un hideous
The men are viados...no question
You have to call the cat before the cat gets the rat.
People should put up Halloween witches and label them “supporters of new law” in the local language, perhaps with photos of said supporters pasted on the heads.
