Stephen Colbert as “progressive” propaganda was obvious to me the first time I saw the show.

The propaganda was extremely effective because it never attempted to make a case. Colbert simply assumed that all the “progressive” assumptions of reality were absolutely true, and that any diviation from them was laughable nonsense.

If you never have the assumptions questioned, it is a very effective technique.

It is why so many on the left are having cognitive dissonance after the election.

I’ve tried many times to say exactly this about these comedy chat shows for years, but I couldn’t say it ever so concisely and well.
