I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what it is. G’town is populated by a LOT of heirs and heiresses to great fortunes who want to be in DC “where the action is” and who would easily fund an idiotic tribute to HRC.
I don’t know, tho, that it helps tourism and business in Georgetown. But what would the donors care? Their living isn’t dependent on Georgetown commerce.
I lived there decades ago for a few years; a place filled with the snottiest, coldest, most self-centered and uncaring people I ever met.
