Obama becoming increasingly powerless as world allies fall to populist uprisings

The resignation of Italy’s prime minister Monday marked the abrupt downfall of the third key European partner of President Obama this year, as the president becomes increasingly powerless to confront a populist wave sweeping both sides of the Atlantic and challenging traditional U.S. alliances.

Matteo Renzi’s surrender in Italy came just seven weeks after Mr. Obama toasted the 41-year-old prime minister at a gilded State Dinner at the White House for possessing “the vision and the values that can carry Italy, and Europe, forward.” Mr. Renzi submitted his resignation after Italian voters resoundingly rejected his proposals for political reform in a Sunday referendum that became a judgment on Mr. Renzi and his internationalist stance.

Less than a week earlier, French President Francois Hollande — another key partner with Mr. Obama on issues such as fighting the Islamic State — announced he would not seek re-election.

“Was Obama ever really powerful, or just surrounded wussie yes men.”

Of course he was. Yes. He was the leader of the free world. Still is. For eight years. I, for one, dare not underestimate the power of the American people who had to sweat out a year and a half of the campaign to defeat his successor, Hillary and their media and the power of God that delivered us. There’s still a lot of work to do. They haven’t even ceded defeat yet, much less, power.

As testament to his power, just look at how much head destroyed and how huge Islam has become

Zero’s only claim to power were his EOs.

And just think, after the 2008 election, the democrats held a majority in the Senate and the House. He could have legislated anything he wanted, but he was hell bent with cramming Obamacare down our throats.

"My faith is not in this world or in Donald trump. It is in Christ. My focus is not on this world, but on eternity. To live is Christ and to die is gain. "

Certainly your ABSOLUTE faith should be in Christ. But Caesar does have a role in our life and in this blessed country of ours we can decide WHO our Caesar is:

Mat 22:16-22 And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Hero'di-ans, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are true, and teach the way of God truthfully, and care for no man; for you do not regard the position of men. Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?" But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, "Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the money for the tax." And they brought him a coin. And Jesus said to them, "Whose likeness and inscription is this?" They said, "Caesar's." Then he said to them, "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." When they heard it, they marveled; and they left him and went away."

Jesus only mention of Rome was the very scripture you quoted. It was about paying taxes. But a more relevant and difficult passage for me is Romans 13.

So I give to the government what is theirs and pretty much ignore them beyond that. God is in control. That is all that matters. Each of us is part of the body and has their own role. Yours and mine may just be different.

I don’t see our government as recoverable. Jesus didn’t even discuss that angle. Nor did Paul. Jeuss said they are set up by God. This is especially interesting since the worst Ceasar was in power when he wrote that. It would be like saying it to a person in Germany in 1940. It’s a very hard chapter for me to accept.

But at the end of the day I consider government just something we have to deal with. I think it will get worse before it gets better, and I don’t think it will get better until the Lord returns. I simply go forward with that belief system.

“the president becomes increasingly powerless to confront a populist wave”

He can’t stop it because he’s greatly responsible for fomenting it. The flame can’t stop the blister, the rhinovirus can’t stop the runny nose, and the poorly fitting shoe cannot stop the callous.

People today are not in any way thus prepared.

People back then had little, and even if they were able to afford anything, they were under rationing in WWII. People were stronger back then.

People today will freak out when they can't get toilet paper, among many other things.
