Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says Congress will act early next year to repeal President Barack Obama’s health care law but delay the changes as Republicans try to come up with an alternative. […]

Speaking in Louisville, McConnell cautioned that the law’s critics “can’t just snap your fingers and go from where we are today to where we’re headed.” He said a replacement to the health care law will be done in a “phased-in way.” …

They don’t even have to repeal it. Get rid of the mandate and the subsidies and it dies on the vine.

Frankly, the reason why “millions” had no health care coverage before the ACA was due to left-wing policies prior to the ACA. If socialistic creep had been kept out of medicine, and it’s been going on for decades (what do you think the cause was of seniors getting their life savings drained by exorbitant hospital bills, after all), we would still have doctors looking to solicit our business.

Don’t listen to the games they play about pregnant women and cancer patients. They’ll do anything to stop a reversion to the private sector and private charity work.

The little bastard waited to make this announcement until after Trump selected his wife for the cabinet.

Well turtle dork...if you, boner and ryan didn’t fund this farging disaster we wouldn’t be here.

SHUT IT DOWN NOW. Obama voters can go to canada or mexico for their care. To hell with them.

Anyone involved in creating obamacare needs to be in prison for life.

Obamacare was phased in over a period of years. In fact, it is still being phased in. It doesn’t happen overnight, Sherlock.

Obamacare is not fully phased in yet. Its replacement will take years to phase in, too.

It's easy for someone who is clueless in public policy to state "shut up and do your job". It takes an adult to actually make the transition work.

Obamacare took a wrecking ball to each healthcare, hospital, and insurance systems. Pieces are missing - or misaligned - now.

2013 was the last chance for a relatively painless repeal.

But there will be a replacement per Trump since he said it thousands of times. It will be market based, hopefully with vouchers, but it is not possible to transition overnight. It will take years. After all, Obamacare is not yet fully implemented.

Please, stop your ignorance. Obamacare was not implemented overnight. It has taken years and it is still not fully implemented. Please, stop it.

Besides, Trump campaigned on a repeal and replace. He always talked about having a replacement and that will not happen overnight. It will take years to implement the replacement.

This is a huge country, millions of different needs to satisfy and implement it so it works well. That does not occur in a vacuum and it take input from doctors, hospitals, insurance companies and patients. It is a huge undertaking and to expect a repeal immediately is lacking in understanding.

It’s not so difficult to stop the parts that haven’t been phased in yet.

Going through each of the steps to re-establish links that were replaced by the ACA is going to take time, even if they were to figure out how to sidestep the state’s intrusive roles that have been in place for decades as far as what is permitted to be offered in each state.

Let us opt out and repeal all the taxes and mandate. Freedom from Obama care act.

Exactly, my company is negotiating 2018 right now. It is usually wrapped up in the first part of next year.

As evidenced by most posts on this thread, folks are completely clueless as to how the real world works. God help us.

1. Trump issues EO to no longer enforce the mandate.
2. Obamacare totally collapses in six months.
3. EO away restrictions on insurance companies.
4. We’re back to where we started.

Nope. Millions would have lost their entitlement and we would have riots in the streets. I don’t think some folks realize the scope of this. Obamacare is the biggest new welfare program since the Great Society. Government subsidized medicine is not going away. Ever.

Yep. Now that millions of folks have gotten a taste of the obamacare freebies it will be like getting heroin addicts clean.

Wow, someone on this thread who gets it. I think there will be more than cosmetic changes. The repubs have mentioned they are keeping the 26 year old clause, as well as, the pre-existing conditions. However, Trump often mentioned buying insurance across state lines, which is something the repubs have been saying for years, as well as, including vouchers to make it more market based. Vouchers would be a big deal and I hope that happens.

Regardless the changes involved, it will take years to transition.

Cold turkey is the only way to go.

If people go without healthcare, that’s the price of freedom. SUCKERS.

Can’t have it both ways. This country is hanging by a thread...I don’t give a damn about any of your petty wants and needs.

Easy to say, but it is not going to happen. Those folks now subsidized will stay subsidized. It is that simple. Trump, more or less, guaranteed it with his repeal and replacement pledge. Hopefully, it will include vouchers that will make it more market based. But to do that, it will take years.
