That's a lot of history. My feeling is that there is a lot of affinity for Germany in the USA, notwithstanding. Beethoven, you know. Let us hope for a positive outcome.

Only indirectly and unconsciously, perhaps, but I was just thinking of Beethoven as a cultural German hero. As "German" pretty much covers the field here in the good old USA.

It does remind of Einstein's quip that if his theories were successful, the German's would say he was German and the Swiss would say he was Swiss, but if not, they would all say he was a Jew, but that was before ...
