The individual mandate is the big objection to the Affordable Care Act. Without that, the act is workable in some form. The individual mandate is communist or socialist by its very nature. It must go.
What would this asshat say if Congress and Trump require American adults to purchase a firearm? Frankly, there’s far more justification for this - there is the Constitutionally-mandated militia, and having the populace armed and trained in the use of commonly available firearms serves the national interest. Certainly, it is more American than mandating that someone purchase health insurance.
Truthfully, the government has no such power - either way - under the Constitution...that, and this guy is a raging lunatic.
McDermott has always been a leftist fool. Glad to see that he is consistent until the end.

There are many threads on FR in a day’s time that make you want to scream but few that make you want to fall down on the floor and throw a full blown tantrum. This takes the cake.

As bad as McDermott was, his replacement, Pramila Jayapal, is someone to keep an eye on. She’s only been a US Citizen since 2000, she’s a Hindu, she missed many, if not most of the votes while she was a senator in WA, she’s VERY pro-immigration, and she came to the US when she was 16 to receive her liberal education. Her record is very similar to Obama’s. Hopefully she isn’t in line to be the next “historic” President. Since being a NBC doesn’t seem to be a requirement anymore, hopefully she hasn’t been chosen and groomed to come out of nowhere and run as the democrat nominee for President in 2020 or later.
