Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) says removing the federal government's individual mandate to purchase health insurance is not American.
McDermott told C-Spans Washington Journal Tuesday, that Republican efforts to remove the government mandate to purchase health insurance from the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) will not work.

He means it’s “not progressive”.
Traitor Roberts got that moniker for a reason.
Removing a draconian governmental imposition is unamerican?????
It’s not “American” not to force individual citizens to purchase an insurance policy whether they want to or not? Maybe in McDermott’s fevered imagination “American” means “dictatorial” - with him it would explain so much.
Well aren’t you a special kind of stupid, McDermott?
I wonder what that is made of. And what kind of chemicals would eat through it.
Standard bronze statuary brought over from Russia as a trophy of the Cold War. Some people see it as a conversation piece, and others take it seriously.

Makes a great urinal.
Hey voters, McDermott wants the government to continue forcing you to buy insurance.
The individual mandate’s existence is un-American. As is the rest of the horrid, misbegotten, misnamed “Affordable” “Care” Act.
For a Seattle communist like McDermott, absolutely.
The only mandate needed is one forbidding healthcare professionals from spreading the costs of treating the uninsured to people who have coverage.
Subsidize the poor and you will get more of them.
Free food, free housing, free healthcare, free transportation, free cell phones, free income, etc.
Who wants to work?
Urine is acidic.
I am not responsible for whatever you may choose to do with that information.
I’ll be nice, and just reiterate he’s Democrat, therefore a lip flapper.
Since the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the feds the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for INTRAstate healthcare purposes, he violated his oath to protect and defend the Constitution when he voted for Obamacare.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824. Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added]. Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
good riddens to the commie mcdermott. as i recall i read his name as an initial sponser of the original obamacare bill. he was as bad as stark raving.
