Of course East German Communist penetration of the West German government during the Cold War is a non-issue. Just as Jimmah recalls Uncle Fidel with fondness Merkel has very fond memories of her formative years in the German Democratic Republic.
I don't know about you but I,for one,have always marveled at how countries that have "People's" or "Democratic" in their names are usually about as far as you can get from "democratic".
