President-elect Donald Trump is set to nominate Betsy DeVos, a billionaire and school choice advocate, as his secretary of education.
"Betsy DeVos is a brilliant and passionate education advocate," Trump said in a statement Wednesday afternoon. "Under her leadership, we will reform the U.S. education system and break the bureaucracy that is holding our children back so that we can deliver world-class education and school choice to all families."

She and her husband, Dick DeVos — who together were worth more than $5 billion in 2012, according to Reuters — have funded initiatives to push for school voucher programs.
"The status quo in education is not acceptable," DeVos said in a statement. "Together, we can work to make transformational change that ensures every student in America has the opportunity to fulfill his or her highest potential."

De Vos is for affirmative action and in her state she’s in bed with extremist Muslims.

You are so right. Her mandate should be as Trump expressly promised during the campaign to shut down the DoE.
I am worried that so soon we see one campaign promise after another from immigration to climate change to the prosecution of Hilary to water boarding all being deep sixed. This does not auger well.
Abolish government schooling. It was imposed on the American people with the purpose of destroying religion and literacy. It has been a roaring success.

What her brother did is of no consequence other than he’s a former Navy Seal and Blackwater is a covert special force facilitator.
Her brother’s doings have no more to do with her than Trump’s sister as a federal judge have to do with him.
Betsy De Vos is accustomed to making decisions involving very large budgets and grants.
Trump is going to pour a boat load of funds into the inner cities for construction and development especially schools. That was his promise to them. He’s going to use De Vos to do it.

We now have powerful public private interests with their fingers on education. I am presenting my point of view it’s called political debate. Trump got it wrong on this-sorry.
Trump haters are afraid of her and from Jeb Bush to Billy Kristol praising her for what that is worth

Seems like this should not be a problem in may states as the Republicans control many governorships and state houses. Trump is probably already on board at the federal level.
Those private interests in education were government funded by the Obama circle.
They are going away very soon.

Not sure it's an individual state issue at this point. Our local school district dropped it like a hot potato once the new education law went into effect.

The fed gov is no longer funding Common Core because the funds are exhausted. The only way for the fed gov to re-engage Common Core advocacy is for President Trump to get a pile of money for it. Not going to happen.
People need to understand that SCHOOL CHOICE is a death knell to the teacher’s unions.
And De Vos is all about School Choice.
The reason that in the past she fought for Common Core is because that’s where the federal funds were, but no longer. She wanted those funds for vouchers to Charter Schools.
People need to understand that federal politics is day-to-day warfare about money.
For example, imagine some Obama crap program called Pedagogy for Pedophiles that Obama obtains a billion dollars for. Along comes someone like De Vos who takes the funds for executing broad and deep sex offender background checks on all Charter Schools.
Then along comes Trump who hires De Vos and the Washington Post slams conservatives with a headline that Trump chooses a person who is aligned with programs that support Pedophilia.
