CDL holders are tested for drugs immediately following an accident, not matter whose fault it is. They are also tested randomly for drugs and alcohol. If they are out drinking off duty and are stopped, their blood alcohol limit is below the state standard (at least it is here in AZ).
I drove a school bus for about 3 years. It’s hard work and you have to deal with a lot of crap. I was letting some kids off at a stop and they had to cross the road in front of the bus. There was some drama going on with some of the kids on the bus and I was trying to calm things while watching to make sure everyone got across the street. I was just about to roll forward when I spotted a boy crouched down hiding behind the left front tire.
Thank God I saw him and thank God for out door speakers on the bus. I let the kid have it. EVERYONE in the neighborhood heard it, I’m sure. He took off and made it safely across the street. I had nightmares about what could have happened for several weeks after that.
