Bannon Is The New Halliburton For Our Precious Left
American Thinker ^ | November 21, 2016 | Andrew Solomon

Posted on 11/22/2016 5:18:33 AM PST by Kaslin

Debating a Leftist is like trying to have a conversation with a Magic 8 Ball toy. You try to discuss a topic and then you wait for them to shake the black sphere, turn it over and have them read whatever phrase emerges from the glass.

It is canned speech. It's like a caveman grunting 'Fire, hot!' They only say enough words that can fit onto a cardboard protest sign using a Magic Marker.

Whenever the Left's opposition party is in power, they foment these convenient piecemeal fabrications of cobbled script and drop them like turds at a dog park without the courtesy of bringing their own plastic bag to pick them up. The Left is just not qualified for civic debate. It is because they are not civil, moral creatures who believe in the actual exchange of ideas.

Instead, the Left carries on with maudlin assertions of hysteria. We saw this all the way back in 2000 when Bush was 'selected' and 'stole' the election. Back then 'Shrub' was daddy's little Bush who used the invasion of Iraq as a ruse; a 'War For Oil'.

It was all caricature then, and remains so today. The danger however, is that the Left knows it works, and... it does. It is the steady drip of propaganda that can carve cultural channels, and eventually ingrain Grand Canyons of division within political society, turning discourse rancorous and superficial.

I posit that it will be well to remember a modern leftist is an “illiberal.”

A sense of history would be helpful. Old fashioned liberals believed in freedom of thought, yet without losing the honesty and morality that made humans human. The result was people like our dear Donald Trump. The modern “liberal” is about as “liberal” as a modern “gay” is “gay.” It’s a charade that runs away from the ostensible goal rather than embracing it. Unconfusing our language is an important step towards making sense.

Diversity, the new fascist nihilism to enable crony capitalists to hollow out our hallowed institutions while delivering nothing to the public except, well Diversity!

We were supposed to vote for Jeb! or Her! both of whom promised MORE DIVERSITY! [How much diversity is enough? When do you know you have achieved complete diversity? What does total diversity look like?]

I am not sure we have escaped the Orwellian fate, quite yet, but I think the spell is broken. Now we just need to ridicule the folks who spout it as the Soros-paid tools that Wikileaks has revealed that they actually are.

Brother and I have been watching CNN on and off and they are HEAVILY going after Bannon. One if the panel members mentioned Ellison’S ties to Jeremiah Wright and the other three practically tackled him on the spot.

“Total diversity” would be rather silly. That would be like trying to make a cake with equal amounts of every spice you could possibly find in a grocery store. Oh you could make one but it would taste horrible.

Soi-disant liberal... “Illiberal” really. Insisting on appearing liberal but only at your expense.

It is a sign of the frustration of mankind. Generosity has long been properly lauded as a virtue. To lose that turns us small and petty. But what should that generosity be based upon? It must be voluntary. It must, in the ultimate, be based upon the gifts that God gives in love. The sacrifices it calls for must be undertaken voluntarily. They must be an echo of the kind of sacrifices that God makes.

I usually start with the Socratic method. Ask them a question regarding their grunt. Then ask another if they can formulate a defense for the first. I can guarantee you that it always a conversation worth having since the rate of a thoughtful leftist versus a drone is about one in a dozen...

Andrew Solomon needs to get together with the guy who wrote, 'Never split the Difference' - - then write the definitive guide for 'Holiday Conversations With Liberals'...

Don’t disparage the eightball! At least it doesn’t insert “really” and “sort of” into every remark.

A True WORDSMITH.

The terms "illiberals" use are not by accident. Part of their crusade is redefining language, culture, interpretation and morality. The meaning of "liberal" as they once labelled themselves, is indeed a charade. Their intent and desires for the population have little to do with "liberty."

Progressive? Right. The idea of moving forward?

I think it’s probably past time to be calling any of the current jackasses “liberals”. They are certainly more “progressives” than anything else today and it fits their agenda more appropriately. Their sole reason for putting their feet on the floor in the morning is to CHANGE the way this country and its people have operated since the beginning. We have to do a better job of being an “ALL INCLUSIVE SOCIETY” so none of the poor babies who are revolting to us are going without the attention they crave.

I’m sure there are other descriptions that would fit them better but probably wouldn’t be allowed in spite of the vulgarity that’s accepted today in all walks of U. S. life.

“”Progressive? Right. The idea of moving forward?””

See my #14 post... I have broken my vow for the year to read all posts before replying so I may as well keep up the tradition. I didn’t see yours until now and yes, it’s more progressive - EVEN THO’ IT’S NOT - than liberal. I think there needs to be a different description that would really fit but I don’t have a clue what it would be. They are doing so much damage and the label should reflect that.

So is “total diversity” like creamy or crunch peanut butter. I think it is probably like the homogenized stuff made from corn syrup, vegetable oil, salt and some real nuts.

Just ran into a big lefty at the deli. He was rambling on about how Trump is delusional and dangerous. The clerk didn’t seem to want to chat him up. I was going to get into with him, but decided to let him stew in his own worthless existence alone. Makes me chuckle that these losers will angry for quite a while!

Oh you lucky rascal!

I have a fire raging in my soul over the deeply shallow “friends” on Facebook I’m not allowed to engage for the sake of my wife’s business and social standing....
