You may recall that Ronald Reagan made abolish the Dept of Education a central campaign issue along with the 55 mph speed limit, yet the DOE is still with us.
I may be mistaken it was long ago but Reagan had to deal with a democratic congress . of course the democrats would not even allow a cut back in funding........which would not be a real decrease in funding but a decrease in the new funding, not the stable funding...Many people don’t realize that the budget automatically adds 10 % tax increase every year. Cuts in funds comes out of that 10% automatic raise in the budget. if you want to hear screaming, just don’t add 10% to one years budget...keep it the same as last year..
