A work crew began to dismantle a Confederate monument in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, the mayor said, in the latest move to take down or relocate symbols of the slaveholding Southern Confederacy from the American Civil War.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer in a pair of messages on Twitter showed photos of figures that had been removed from the monument.
[snip]Students and staff members at the University of Louisville had said the memorial condoned slavery.

(DIXIE'S CENSORED SUBJECT BLACK SLAVEOWNERS)
By Robert M. Grooms
Shouldn’t we just kick Kentucky out of the country?
just for your information.
The man on the image you posted wears mid-19th century clothes. Can’t be the man the text talks about (17th century).
Sometime in the next eight years, we will rebuilt it bigger and better.
....when will they demand MARGRET SANGER’s removal
from history for her obvious racist ideas,comments,teachings......???
It also appears to be a photographic image...
Ethnic Cleansing - Always a bad thing... unless it’s being done to white Christians.
Can’t theses guys put up some new plaque explaining that Kentucky had slaves, it was a major dividing issue and cause of the war, that it’s wrong, that it goes against the Declaration of Independence, and that we are making America great again now? Destroying anything in history reminds me of what the Taliban did shortly before 911 to those statutes in Afghanistan.
I’ve always been torn on the issue of the Confederate flag and monuments to the Confederacy. It would be nice if the angry black supremacists would acknowledge those white Union men who fought and died for their freedom.
It’s not racist if a black person does it.
Maybe they’d better tear down all the Colonel Sanders stuff in and around Corbin too. Because...fried chicken.
It’s communistic to want to rewrite our nations history. Monuments don’t mean agreement. They are there to remind us
Yeppers.
It is possible that no image expense exist of the man in question.
When seen through the lens of states’ rights, it is easy to defend the Confederacy and the monuments. Slavery is a separate issue; a couple of slave states fought for the North, and all of them had slavery at some point (it was outlawed in my state of NJ 15 years before the Civil War), so the Union flag should be just as offensive.
If they want to re-write or erase history, let them be thorough (not selective); get rid of the stars & stripes.
Predigested memes! Better than thinking!
Next will be the Washingon Monument, Mount Rushmore, etc.
You know, there was far more slavery under the US flag than under the Confederate flag.
