Pope creates 17 new 'progressive' cardinals

Pope Francis will create 17 new cardinals from across the globe Saturday in a time-honoured ceremony, elevating them to an elite body that advises and elects popes. Three of them are from the US, while others come from corners of the world where the Catholic Church needs a boost. Dressed in red robes, these "princes of the Church" will kneel before the pontiff to pledge their allegiance in a solemn ceremony known as a consistory.

Thirteen of them are under 80 and therefore eligible to take part in the next secret conclave to elect or become the head of the world's 1.2 billion Catholics. They are known as cardinal electors.

History's first Latin American pope is famed for wanting to reach out to far-flung dioceses often overlooked by Rome and he has shunned European candidates almost entirely, favouring low-key, pastoral figures or men he knows.

The cardinal electors come from Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Central African Republic, Italy, Mauritius, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Spain, the United States and Venezuela.

The pope will give each man a three-cornered red hat, telling them that the colour symbolises "your readiness to act with courage, even to the shedding of your blood" for the Catholic Church.

The unexpected pick of three Americans reverses a trend that saw Francis pass over US candidates in his first two consistories.

By choosing archbishops Blase Cupich of Chicago, Joseph Tobin of Indianapolis and Bishop Kevin Farrell of Dallas, Francis has "engineered what may prove to be a seismic shift in the Catholic hierarchy in the United States," wrote expert John Allen on the US Catholic website Crux.

The three, from Church's "progressive wing", may help counterbalance a strong conservative presence among US cardinals, particularly at a moment when the authority of reform-minded Francis is being challenged by US-led traditionalists.

Il Papa is trying to emulate FDR by “packing the court.”

As crazy as it sounds now, I suspect that at some point in the future, probably after they’re both long gone, Benedict XVI’s resignation will be declared invalid and Francis will be relegated to antipope status.

Pope missed the memo. His embracing of old hippie nonsense is going to be laughable in a year or so.

Memo to every government, worldwide: People everywhere are tired of the antiquated old hippies. Let them segue into the retirement home. Join the 21st century.

Progressive wolves forget that they are not the head of the Body of Christ but that Jesus Christ is. The evils they work now are to their own doom. They will be held accountable.

Like all progressives, Francis is trying to create a future “lineage” in his own image.

The wikileaks emails revealed the plan to infiltrate the Catholic Church with leftist subversives for the purpose of changing church doctrine. They will do this through demoralization techniques.

You are witnessing this plan.

Paul VI also tried to do that and even banned cardinals over eighty from conclave to make sure that such giants as Alberto Cardinal Ottaviani, Amleto Cardinal Cicognani and Carlo Cardinal Confalonieri would not be able to inform the cardinal electors for the good of the Church after 20 years of doctrinal anarchy AND administrative "progressive tyranny" except for Humanae Vitae. So the old guys brought their unerring institutional memory to the international airport, greeted the incoming cardinals and gave each of them an earful resulting in the election of the very traditionalist Albino Cardinal Luciani as John Paul I and, following his murder, the election of Karol Cardinal Wojtlywa as John Paul II.

The election of Frankie the Apostate was pulled off by a group of notorious radical anti-Catholic cardinals led by Walter Cardinal Kaspar and styling themselves the St. Gallen Society. They were originally plotting to elect a fellow raving heretic Carlo Maria Cardinal Martini to cram more "Spirit of Vatican II" down our throats and do to the Roman Catholic Church what Comrade Imam Obozo has done to the USA. Martini died on them so they needed a new disgrace to organize around and presto! they settled on Jorge Cardinal Bergoglio as their man to leave the Church in smoking ruins. Like Bergoglio, they were getting quite long in the tooth and his would be the last conclave for most of them.

They needed a pope to refresh the ranks of the heretic wing of the College of Cardinals. Just this weekend Frankie the Apostate gave them three despicables from the US: Kevin Farrell, Blase Cupich (worst in show) and Joseph Tobin and fourteen more from other countries.

Lord, send us an actually CATHOLIC pope ASAP!

God bless you and yours!

Indianapolis and Dallas have not been headed by Cardinals in the past, and Dallas officially is part of the Arch Diocese of San Antonio. I would assume that a reshuffling of the Catholic Church in the U.S. will follow.
