My opinion on this is one of two thoughts:
1) Trump is the new Godfather and Mittens has been summoned to kiss ‘The Don’s’ ring
2) It’s 15 minutes of yada-yada, then thanks for coming in and just before Romney leaves Trump ‘Honks’ Mittens nose and pulls his underwear over his head.
I prefer #2 (which, BTW, is what Mitt Romney is to me - #2)
It’s not that he wasn’t loyal it was that he did everything in his power to make sure Hillary was the President. His attacks on Trump were largely personal and purely mean spirited. If Trump can forgive him I can too but he has to show that he is now clearly allied with Trump. SOS shouldn’t be a push over or a war monger so even though he isn’t completely on board with Trump vis a vi Russia he can still be effective negotiating positions on behalf of Trump (stern but reasonable). Surprisingly I wouldn’t be upset if Trump chose him but I stress I would have to see that he is completely allied with Trump now (not just rumors but he’s have to be on the television regularly defending Trump between now and inauguration for me to have more trust that he doesn’t want to just torpedo a Trump administration. John Bolton is the one I am completely against
No.
Absolutely not.
Omg this is my BIGGEST fear!!! Ahh!
I’ll pass, thanks. Romney may be a nice guy and undoubtedly he would have been a better president than 0bama, but there is such a thing as missing your window. As did HRC. Twice. I do not think he can be trusted in the current context.
(senior moment)Trying to remember the name of a bitter political enemy of Lincoln. After Lincoln won the presidency, appointed him as Secretary of War. When answering critics as to why, he simply said he was the best man for the job.
Or will you be a man and accept his decision what ever it may be?
I see three possible fits for Romney in a Trump admninistration.
1. UN Ambassador.
2. Secretary of Veteran’s Affairs.
3. Head of Office of Management and Budget.
Not a good fit for Sec of State. They always disagree with prez on one issue or another.
I owe you something? How so?
Where did I say that you owed me something?
Whatever else Romney is, he most definitely is NOT a nice guy. That incredibly vicious screed of a speech he gave early this year excoriating Trump in an effort to prevent the latter's nomination was not an act of a nice man. That, alone, disqualifies Romney in my eyes for any position in a Trump administration. If the President-elect wants to hire Romney, that's his choice, but as a Trump voter I sure do not welcome the possibility.
I find Romney specifically and remarkably untrustworthy, right along the lines you posted. 2-3 months ago, Romney attacked Trump in the most vicious terms imaginable, 10 times worse than he attacked 0bama when he had something at stake. With *nothing* at stake other than preserving what he perceives as his very own status quo, Romney went all in bashing Trump. This was well after Trump had eliminated all his primary competition, so dislodging Trump at that juncture was nothing if not directly supporting HRC. Sorry, I don’t think you forget that. Romney is shallow and his loyalty can not be counted on. So here he comes, grinning like a good sycophant, begging for a job he has no need for and can not be taken as being serious about.
No. Easy decision.
I don’t accept your shitbag condescending attitude, I don’t accept your definiton of what it is or isn’t to be a man and I don’t owe you or anyone else a cult-of-personality loyalty oath.
Why don’t you go back to hemorrhoid school and see if you can upgrade to full-on asshole?
Are you talking to yourself?
Don’t like and don’t trust Romney. Perhaps VA. I can’t seem him a SOS.
Small thinkers make things personal. If a CEO fired those who criticized or who disagreed, I and others would be never be employable.
Ideology matters, but then Mr. Trump is not an ideologist. Leaders look for those who can lead, manage and accomplish stated goals and targets.
Mittens has proven he can manage and accomplish.
There are undoubtedly aspects of the Trump agenda where Romney could be useful. If directed appropriately, I have no reservations in Romney as a Trump appointee. Putting Romney in charge of building the border fence? Hell NO! Putting Romney in charge of turning an agency such as the VA around. Absolutely!
