DONALD Trump's closest politial ally has rubbished Russia's claims of military might as he angles for a top job in the Republican new administration.

Former mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani said the Kremlin's aggressive rhetoric was all bluster, suggesting Moscow did not pose a threat to the West.

Mr Giuliani, who is being lined up for the job of Secretary of State - America's equivalent of foreign secretary - blasted: "Russia thinks it's a military competitor - it really isn't."

But the senior Republican also attacked Barack Obama for allowing Vladimir Putin to seize on instability around the world to increase his power.

He added: "It's our unwillingness under Obama to even threaten the use of our military that makes Russia so powerful."

Mr Giuliani, New York's mayor at the time of September 11 attacks, is known as a hardliner on national security matters.

'Russia Is NO Match For Us'

Yeah, when we kill an Islamic terrorist bastard, we make different size holes than the Russians, they definitely don't match, though the Russians may make more holes in them than we do.

That ship launched multiple waves of attack aircraft on the terrorists in Syria two days ago. Missions were accomplished.

It also has lots of very capable surface to air and surface to surface missiles. It’s a cruiser, not a carrier.

How well would America do in a long and protracted conflict against Russia? Russians can get used to surviving on cabbage and sawdust. How long can we go without TV entertainment, fast food and countless other diversions that define out lives? Not just that but endure real hardship. My guess is not long.

Nothing to be gained by trying to embarrass or antagonize Russia. We have to work together against muslims.

Totally agree. Russia might prove to be the most reliable ally against the ragheads because Putin isn't constrained by public, or world opinions. He understands the bottom line - WINNING.

Nothing wrong with letting them know that the new sheriff is aware of their capabilities vs. ours. When Trump and Putin meet/correspond, it will be with the straight knowledge that Trump is the top dog.

>>Missions were accomplished.

ISIS was/is a manufactured fraud. So is Islam.

The Mission, is to expose that fraud, neutralize it - and build a future where Truth, Honor, and lawful order secure the inalienable rights of all who live freely within the purview of both Republics.

What’s the point of causing strife?

What's the point of letting others think they hold sway over you when they don't? Not all other leaders are as immature as Obama and company - adults can handle the truth and it is critical that they and we both know the truth.

Clinton would have set up a no fly zone, shot down a Mig and started a war. And no, Giuliani has no business anywhere near national defense.

Russia has spent centuries bleeding from various hordes from the East (Mongols, etc) and the South (Muslims).

I can say nearly the same about Poland...Checks and Slovaks...Romania....Hungary. What did they get from Russia?

Most of that was on Stalin, and he wasn’t even Russia, he was Georgian I think.

Daily Express is pretty equal opportunity in that they make up news both for and against Trump. It is of course absolutely unreliable rag.

Agree. What a difference an election makes. It wasn’t just Hillary banging the drums of war with Syria and Russia. Many RINOs such as McCain were doing the same thing. There could have been bi-partisan support for a no fly zone in Syria – which would have been plain nuts.

Now thank God, that is completely off the table.

Was having lunch with my sister and she asked “I wonder if there will be war now that Trump is elected”. For pity sake, I have no idea why voters think Trump is planning a war. I calmly explained that Hillary wanted war, not Trump.

Yes, opposition to a war against Russia I hope doesn’t turn into a revisionist love affair for Russia. The Poles have every reason to not trust Russia, now and historically. But now, like the Crimean War, there were times we should have backed Russia against its enemies, because they were our enemies too.

I know, why is it so impossible to have a balanced view of Putin and Russia? The idea that Putin is some Christian crusader I find laughable. He is no Sobieski.

Thanks for that clarification.

Daily Express felt especially compelled to pile their BS especially when they know most pods just read the Headline.

We here at FR need to create an ongoing Thread that document all the daily "Fake News" stories and headlines coming out of "real" news sites. Among them, the MSNBC, CNN, New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, NY Daily News, and any number of metropolitan bird cage liners and boob-tube propaganda organs masquerading as "real news."
