I ardently hope he is a STEM supporter. We need much more science to be taught and appreciated by students so that witches, fairies and goblins don’t dictate our scientifically driven deductive reasoning.

I think he is more of a "get the federal government out of the education business and leave it to the states, students and schools to work it out" kind of guy. Classical Aristotelian and Platonic philosophy is the opposite of "witches, fairies and goblins" and ultimately led to the scientific method.
