Illegal immigrants are preparing to ask President Obama to pardon some 750,000 illegal immigrant Dreamers, saying its their last, best hope to stave off what they fear will be a wave of deportations once Donald Trump takes office.
Community leaders have planned a rally in New York on Wednesday to make the request.
Millions of law abiding undocumented immigrants are fearful of what will happen when the new Administration takes control in January, the group said in a statement announcing the rally. However, President Obama has the power of pardons that he can use to protect all DACA enrollees.
As of September, more than 740,000 illegal immigrants had been approved for Mr. Obamas Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, a mini-amnesty that grants young adult illegal immigrants a two-year stay of deportation and issues them work permits, entitling them to drivers licenses and some taxpayer benefits.
President-elect Donald Trump has signaled he would cancel that order, putting Mr. Obama in a bind. The president said this week that Mr. Trump should go slowly on rolling back those actions....

After all, he's the one who goes about bragging about how many illegals he's deported.
They have been named:) They self registered for the “dream act” We have a list.
Their best path to citizenship would have been to embrace the ideals of this country and preach em to everyone
1. they havent been charged with a crime and
2. they havent been named.
.
And, if they were identified to take advantage of such a "pardon", and if the new SCOTUS denied or reversed such an illegal and extraconstitutional "mass pardon",
...then would we not know who they are, where they reside, and where to arrest them?
.
Exactly. This is a nation with a constitution that makes the INDIVIDUAL CITIZEN king. You can’t pardon a group. You can only pardon a person. And the first thing you need is that person’s name.
Now, you can pass a law that affects all the illegals, but a President can’t do that alone. They’re kinda stuck. :-)
It’s legally called amnesty, which is a pardon applied to a whole class of people. It has been used a number of times in American history (especially after the Civil War). Individuals don’t need to be individually named or charged.
Doesn’t matter, as pardon/amnesty is only for crimes during a specified time and does not apply to the day after the pardon/amnesty specifies. An illegal entrant into the US could be deported as usual the day after the pardon.
The only hypothetical advantage MIGHT be that such a person could not be barred from entering the US in the future on the basis of past illegal entry, assuming they could get out of the US without it being officially noticed.
Right-undocumented immigrants= No SSN = no taxes = stealing :)
Bingo. The moment Trump is inaugurated 0dungheap's mass pardon becomes NULL AND VOID. Take it to the SCOTUS AFTER Trump's pick is confirmed by Congress and seated.
“If you are an illegal immigrant, then go back home and apply to come to the US the correct way as did many of your fellow countrymen who are here LEGALLY...
Thats the ONLY way............”
No, just go back home, we don’t need millions of unskilled, low-IQ, welfare sucking, dependents. We’ve already got plenty.
If you apply legally, you can admitted if you serve a purpose...Not just to come here...
or a Home Burglar is a Undocumented Homeowner
Lol, exactly. The SECOND they are pardoned, unless they leave the USA, they are immediately again guilty of being an illegal alien.
If they are law abiding, then what is there to pardon?
-PJ
Dammit!
Illegal immigrants are not law abiding!
They would instantly be illegal the following second.
I couldn’t find the right words;) LOL.
How about “millions of criminal criminals”
Help me out here!!!!!
The irony is not lost.
Bingo.
Not residents, not workers, and not citizens.
They would still be citizens of a foreign country, and removable back to their own country.
The irony is that even legal residents in Mexico get deported if they engage in any type of political activity, such as tourists joining in protest marches.
