Funny he mentions Scalia, because he regularly referred to America as a “democracy”. In practical use, “democracy” has become shorthand for a democratically elected republic, which is how Scalia used it.
I wish he hadn’t used it that way. If I were to sit on SCOTUS, I’d hammer the term “republic” at every opportunity.
