Mike Dukakis died a public death on Nov 8, 1988.

Even his wife Kitty said so.

Funniest photo-op in presidential elections ever. His mommy even made made a name-tag for his "battle helmet" so that he wouldn't lose it.

Two things wrong with your idea Mike:
We DON’T KNOW if she won the popular vote because Absentee ballots are not counted unless the election is close enough in a state to make a difference in the outcome....and absentee as a rule are 2/3 GOP 1/3 Dem so if they were to be counted...my guess is she would lose there as well.
Second...the Electoral college is a safeguard for those who don’t live in high populated liberal hell holes ...which is why we are a DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC mike...not a pure democracy because that ends up in mob rule..but with the current make up of state houses and the US congress if you think you can get 3/4 of the states to approve of the Constitutional ammendment needed to do it...go for it...you could not get them off their fat asses to vote for Hillary six million didn’t so go for it dude...
otherwise stop being a drama queen...

Democrats start working on this now. It may take them as long to get rid of the Electoral College as it did for Britain's Labour Party to end hereditary legislators in the House of Lords -- eighty years or so -- and it may mean renouncing other goals, as Tony Blair did for Labour in Britain. But if there's ever a massive landslide for the Democrats again, abolition of the Electoral College will be on the table. Of course, there's a paradox involved here. A party that is powerful enough to get rid of the EC will have swept the EC to get into office and therefore won't feel any pressing need for change.

Could an amendment get ratified by the states? Naturally, big Democrat states would be for it. So would small Democrat states -- Hawaii, Vermont, Delaware, Rhode Island, if the political map stays the same. Die-hard small Republican states would be opposed -- Idaho, Wyoming, the Dakotas. You'd have to see a sweep for the Democrats so big that enough Midwestern and Southern state legislatures go Democrat long enough for the Amendment to go through. That's extremely unlikely the way our politics are now. Maybe FDR could have done it during the Depression if he'd wanted to.

The 10 th amendment was a failed poison pill from the founding fathers. The electoral college will forever be successful. No work around.

The electoral college is part of the constitutional process for electing a president. If is is abolished, the USA would no longer be a republic. To call for this change is treason.

Democrats want to fraud it up in California, with no voter ID and millions of illegal aliens.

They simply don't have the two-thirds House/Senate and three-fourths of the states to change the Constitution.

AND WE should be IGNORING this BS about getting rid of the electoral college (read 55 men and the constitution). We should be focusing on a NATIONAL VOTER ID program and a program to RECOMMEND to all states that would help them bring their (dead) voter rolls up to date.

Lol. Good luck with 32 republican governors, a majority of state houses, the congress and the president. Maybe in 50 years.

I am sure all the small states will be waiting in line to support this proposal. ;-)

It seems that I have said this before on a dozen threads. This issue is not that the Electoral College exists, it is how the individual states choose to allocate their Electors. When the States choose to allocate their electors in a “winner take all” format, it tends to disenfranchise many voters. For example, if you are a Republican in California, New York or Illinois, your vote is irrelevant to the outcome in national elections. If you are a Democrat in Texas, same thing.

Having said that, I would be perfectly happy if 48 States would follow the lead of Maine and Nebraska and allocate their electors based on their congressional districts. This would force the candidates to wage national campaigns and not the regional campaigns that we see today.

Just my 2 cents worth.

“Hey Hill....Trump got 306 EV not 290.”

They are are trying to preserve Michigan for as long as they can. It hasn’t officially been awarded to Trump pending a recount since the margin of victory is less than 1%

They will drag it out as long as they can. I bet Michigan will still be gray on the map in 2020!
