The tape clearly harmed Trumps momentum, he was on his way to a HUGE win, and that stopped it dead... but they released it too early to stop him completely.
They knew hew was breaking away so they had no choice but to release in early Oct.. had they not, he would have would have broken the damn wide open.
This was closer that it should have been, but its still a win.
Yes, precisely. I was told numbers by Team Trump the week before the tape dropped and he was close in CT, RI, and ME, in addition to the states he won and/or came close in. That tape probably cost him a million or more votes.
The morons botched the timing of its release.
I remember reading that Access Hollywood had planned to run the story the Monday after the debate, thus quashing any Trump debate momentum. However, fortunately, some eager beaver leaked the video to The Washington Post on the Friday before, prompting Trump to trot out BJ's (and Hillary's) female victims, setting the tone for the debate.

Along with the tape, I think Comey’s closure of the second emails investigation in Hillary’s favor just 9 days after opening it hurt Trump, too.
Having cleared her a second time should have galvanized Clinton voters (”See? She’s innocent, dambit! Vote!”) and depressed the Trump vote (”Cleared again. The fix really is in! Why bother?”). But Hillary insists it’s the other way aroundwhich I don’t believe.
