A Change.org petition asking the Electoral College to elect Hillary Clinton instead of Donald Trump has garnered over 2 million signatures. The petition states that Trump is unfit to serve, and that because Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, she should be president.
We are calling on the Electors to ignore their states' votes and cast their ballots for Secretary Clinton. Why?
Mr. Trump is unfit to serve. His scapegoating of so many Americans, and his impulsivity, bullying, lying, admitted history of sexual assault, and utter lack of experience make him a danger to the Republic.
Secretary Clinton WON THE POPULAR VOTE and should be President.
Hillary won the popular vote. The only reason Trump "won" is because of the Electoral College.
But the Electoral College can actually give the White House to either candidate. So why not use this most undemocratic of our institutions to ensure a democratic result?
SHE WON THE POPULAR VOTE.
There is no reason Trump should be President.

There is no reason Trump should be President............................ Can we say the same about JFK? Nixon won the popular vote in 60. Where was the outrage then?Only liberal outrage in refusal to accept what is Constitutional in their lust for power, is acceptable to the MSM overall. But once again, in the interest of accuracy:
The following United States presidential elections are the elections in which the candidate who became President received neither a plurality or majority of the popular vote. This has occurred on five occasions.

Thanks - good of you to do the legwork to check that out.
So assuming those policies are in fact national in scope (as your last citation implies), the next question would be are the numbers we have today the complete, final numbers, or do results updated with absentee ballots and the like continue to dribble in until some point in the future?

What is a popular vote?
It doesnt exist other than in peoples minds.
more people voted against Hillary Clinton than voted for her...from http://minutemennews.com/26907-2/
Looking at this mornings numbers the vote between Clinton and Trump is 395,595. But, thats not the end of the story. The current reality is if you factor in the votes for the other candidates on the ballot more people voted against Hillary Clinton than voted for her. The votes are still being counted, so who knows what the finally tally will be. But, according to the numbers, as of this morning, 65,919,611 people voted NOT to elect Hillary Clinton as president. That number exceeds the votes collected for her by almost 5.5 million people.

My view is that the EV should be cast based on the popular vote at the Congressional district level. I agree, and I've been an advocate of that for a number of years. My parents were supporters of the "district system".
At present, only Maine and Nebraska do it -- and Trump won one electoral vote from Maine as a result. (Clinton carried the state, so she gets the two statewide electors, plus the one from the First Congressional District, but Trump carried the Second Congressional District, so he got its elector.)

Doesnt matter if she DID win the popular vote. True -- and it looks like she may not have, so it's even more irrelevant.
