They fit my feet (wide); Nike and most others do not...And BECAUSE they are Made In USA...Jobs for Americans!
Those two reasons are good enough for me...

I only wear NB or Saucony.
6 is the smallest most shoes come in. Clark’s are an Exception. But you pay a lot more for that size. I’ve a $200 pair of 5 yr old Nike’s and don’t intend to replace them until they fall apart. Had to get a 6 for my orthopedic inserts.
NB is a good brand, I’ve owned several pairs in my life time when they still made them in my size. Hard to find 5.5 in adult shoes.
I wrote New Balance and they replied with a nice letter.
