You’ve never heard Hallelujah? You must be the only person on the planet to have missed it... Here’s a link:

That’s all any man needs on his tombstone really
Lol
For later.
Very nice, and very fitting.
Considered a National Treasure in Canada RIP Mr Cohen
Wrote some nice songs.

My favorite is Leonard Cohen's live performance in London.

Hallelujah is one of those songs that almost everybody gets wrong (Shrek). It is not a wistful love song about some fond memories of having great sex with your girlfriend. He originally wrote it as a bitter dirge about a fickle lover who eventually left him, alluding to how he struggled with his Jewish faith.
Compare Cohen's live performance above to the Buckley/Cale covers, and you can see how Cohen's vocal intonations and word emphasis are totally different.
The best! Was lucky to him in concert several times. Fantastic shows.
RIP.
She’s the unknown lover... shows up in several places in his art.
Rest in peace. Thanks for the music.
One of the best.
RIP.
That came all the way from China...
"And Jesus was a sailor when He walked upon the water, And He spent a long time watching from His lonely wooden tower,
And when He knew for certain only drowning men could see him, He said "all men will be sailors then until the sea shall free them,"
But He Himself was broken, long before the sky would open Forsaken, almost human, He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone."

Thanks for that! What a lovely shrine.
Here’s where I confess—I actually have “a monkey and a plywood violin”!
The monkey is a candle, and the plywood violin is a little wooden cheese tray, carved in the shape of a violin.
Both were yard sale finds that became a wry sort of nod to Cohen, on the shelf above my stereo.
Very few visitors to my home notice. Those who do are gathered safely in...
She shows up in his art over the years... the first mention is in his voice rendition of Beautiful Losers in an off hand comment he makes that’s not in the book (1966), songs, and toward the end in Book of Mercy with the prayer that corresponds to 1964... no one knows (obviously) but that’s my guess...
You might be right - could reflect a struggle with his Jewish faith. We all have an opinion on what his songs and poetry mean - I think he wanted it that way... What I know is the world suffered a loss when he died. That we can all agree on...
He didn’t copyright them.
“I recently stumbled upon a pentatonix redendition of Cohen’s Halllelujah. Listen with head phones to really appropriate. Link is here for those interested. “
Which one is Kevin?
