And the modern sofas, lamps and chairs + tacky formica Africana-themed coffee table in the sitting area of the Oval Office. All are horribly out-of-place in the public area.
If the Obamas wanted casual-themed decor, they had every right to install it in the private residence (and I'm sure they did install it there).
But not in the historic public areas.
Btw, I can't be accused of being racist in my preference for keeping public areas of the White House historically appropriate. I was equally disgusted by Hillary Clinton's 1990s "renovations" of the White House, when she hired Little Rock decorator Kaki Hockersmith to install flocked red wallpaper in the White House. I remember preservationists calling it "whorehouse" wallpaper.
