The electoral college was a stroke of genius. It kept a few big states from dominating the entire process. (I might add that the popular vote needs to be taken with a big grain of salt. A lot of bogus votes were “cast” yesterday by one party.)
agree ! Electoral College does help preserve the will of the Fly Over States ....
Campaigning would be very different if we had a pure democracy. Those who whine about winning the popular vote might think their baseball team should have won if they had 20 hits vs the opponent's 5, though they only had 4 runs vs. the opponents 5 (all home runs).
Pure democracy: two foxes and one chicken voting on what's for lunch.
