Not to butt in, but one side of my family came to Canada before the US -- one of them died in WW1 fighting for Canada. I just recently learned about the horrible Ross rifles the Canadians carried in WW1, and my respect went up a couple notches.
Not to mention, Canada lost more men per capita than any other country in WW1.

My great-uncle was only 25 when he was killed. He was injured on the 2nd of September, 1918, and died September 10th, two months before the war ended.
