I just put on the TV for ten minutes, switching between the networks, PBS, CNN, and Fox.

O-M-G

Put me in charge of the all-night machine gun pits at RFK stadium.

This is the media speaking to the People about Trump:

Is it possible that we will hear a Hillary Clinton concession speech before the sun rises?

Dan is in his basement live-blogging tonight on facebook... He seems to have fallen silent

Welcome to the Dan Rather campaign headquarters - me, my trusty computer keyboard, all of you - my friends on Facebook - and, of course, a bowl of Frito-Lay to help this ol’ Texan get through the long night.

It’s important to parse the language of the pundits and data experts on TV. There is a big difference between “too close to call” and “too early to call”. The first suggests that it is a true tossup. The second is that the state is leaning one way but there isn’t enough data for the number crunchers to tipi it into the column. They don’t want to be wrong with a call because that is the quickest way to find yourself in the unemployment line.
The campaigns know these differences well. For them, the difference between “too close to call” and “too early to call” is the difference between anxious staffers looking for a Xanax and confident staffers looking to have a celebratory beer.
