Trump Holds 2-Point Lead Over Clinton As Election Day Arrives: Final IBD-TIPP Poll Results
IBD ^ | November 8, 2016 | John Merline

Posted on 11/08/2016 2:09:25 AM PST by BlessedBeGod

As voters go to the actual polls to cast their ballots in what has been an unprecedented presidential election, Republican Donald Trump held onto a 2-point lead over his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton — 45% to 43% — in a four-way matchup, according to the final IBD/TIPP presidential tracking poll. Libertarian Gary Johnson captures 8% support from likely voters, while Green Party candidate Jill Stein gets 2%.

In a two-way matchup, Clinton leads Trump by 1 point — 43% to 42%.

Unrounded, the numbers are: Trump 45.0%, Clinton 43.4%, Johnson 7.6%, and Stein 2.0% — which means Trump has a lead of 1.6 points. The final IBD/TIPP poll showed an interesting gain in support for Johnson, who climbed from just shy of 4% four days ago.

"As we complete the final days of the tracking poll, we see both Republicans and independents with relatively greater enthusiasm compared to Democrats. The registration advantage Democrats typically have will likely be neutralized by increased enthusiasm by Republicans, which is similar to 2004, when the voters split 37% Democrats and 37% Republican on Election Day. When it comes to candidate support, party-line vote will likely cancel each other," said Raghavan Mayur, President of TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence, which conducts the IBD/TIPP poll. "We also expect independent turnout to be robust and significantly higher than in recent elections, and Trump has an 8-point advantage over Clinton among these voters."

I was hoping the dem turnout would be low but there’s marijuana on the ballot so that may bring them out.

MUST STOP THE CHEATING.

Well, that's the key, isn't it?

There have been a few police raid in some states. And there will be poll watchers of course, but they proved to be completely ineffective in 2012 to stop Obama vote fraud.

I was hoping the FBI would expose and raid vote fraud dens, seize machines, and actually arrest people regarding vote fraud, but they didn't and they won't.

Encourage. Pray that they are right. Yesterday’s ibd poll seemed strange, since it had 40% of hispanics going for Trump. I don’t see that happening. Hopefully, this one has a more rational distribution. I’ll check out the details later when I get a chance.

I talked to a friend that is a poll watcher here in NY. Of course, we do not have early voting. I told him I was concerned about vote fraud and he assured me, at least at his station, it was unlikely. Here we mark a paper ballot and feed it to a machine.

The paper ballots are then stored in the machine. My friend keeps a mental count of how many R votes come in and at the end of the day, checks the machine tallies to be sure the numbers are close. If he is not satisfied he asks for a hand count. This is in a small precinct however, and may be harder in bigger ones.

The ABC poll used a sample that voted 50-35 Obama-Romney in 2012.

Many of the polls are using a D+6 sample, which was the turnout in 2012.

If we've learned nothing else this election cycle, we've surely learned that the FBI is not the shining example of policing purity and excellence that their carefully cultivated image portrayed. They are nothing but a corrupt tool of the ever-expanding police state that is our federal government.

Yes. Happy IBD is sticking with their results and not trying to join the “average”.

Johnson and Stein are NOT combining for 10% of the vote.

Probably not, but I expect it will be more than in the past.

However, I believe that most third-party votes are in states where it doesn't matter. My state traditionally has a higher percentage of third-party votes than nationally, but I'm in a deep red state.

As a result, third-party voters feel they can safely cast a "protest" vote without affecting the outcome.

I'm planning to look at the close states in the next few days to see if third-party votes were more than the margin of victory for that state. Frankly, I don't expect to find any -- and if I do, it won't be enough electoral votes to affect the outcome of the election.

Johnson will probably get around 1% of the vote nationally, but no poll shows that.

If Johnson's support is mostly libertarian I can't see any circumstance where they switch to Clinton. If his support implodes it will go to Trump.

If, on the other hand, Johnson's supporters are mostly Democrats who smoke pot there's a chance they'll go for Hillary, or give the Libertarian Party their best showing yet.

If Trump wins by wide margins, cheating becomes irrelevant, like chaff in a hurricane.
