Firing Comey may turn out to be a stupid move. That releases Comey to say anything he wants to.
Yep, pretty clear that was going to happen, and he was gone anyway. A Clinton win, and she’d have him tarred and feathered and thrown down the front steps. A Trump win and he was out with the rest of the Dem appointees. Obama and Lynch will talk with him and he’ll announce his resignation in a few days or few weeks.
He may get the appearance of leaving on his own due to the fact they don’t want him to spill the beans. I imagine if he keeps silent the Clinton Foundation will provide a nice little honorarium from funds meant for victims of some earthquake or flood.
He can be fired. Bill Clinton fired FBI Director William Sessions in 1993. He didn’t want a Republican in that position.
FBI Directors are confirmed by Congress but serve at the pleasure of the President, unlike a Supreme Court Justice.
Need a poll on Comey approval rating. It has to be in the John Edwards territory. At one point he as 3% approval rating I’ll bet Comey is close.

Comey lost the election for Hillary. A chunk of soft supporters who would have voted early for her (EVing ending yesterday) until he sprung the re-opening of the case likely decided to wait until tomorrow to vote, and when they see the lines may turn around and go home.
Thinking the same thing. It will save Trump the hassle. I also think Comey was pressuring the Clintons for more money. /cynicism off
Not a lot of sympathy for Comey here. Back in July, he could have avoided all of this by laying out the case against Clinton exactly as he did and then saying he would leave any decision to the Justice Department.
Sure DoJ would never prosecute but at least then no one could say he “cleared” Hillary.

Agree or not. Make Obama pay a price for firing him. He’s tiptoeing up to Saturday Night Massacre territory. That’s what brought Nixon down more than anything else.
Question is, is there anyone in the Justice Dept or FBI with the integrity to refuse Obama, the way they refused Nixon. And is there anyone in the press with the integrity to point at Obama and say this is crooked?
