Supposedly when the president travels for strictly political purposes, the Democrat party pays for his travels.

We taxpayers still pay for secret service and security arrangements, but the party is supposed to reimburse the government for political travel.

Whether that actually happens is questionable, but legally that is what is supposed to happen.
