The young son of a former colleague was afflicted by this terrible disease. Had to be treated with respirator for almost two weeks. However, the doctors gave him an experimental drug that had shown some promise: fluoxetine - that is the active ingredient of Prozac!
The boy is almost totally recovered now! If that was due to the medicine or something else is too early to say, but further trials will be carried out.
