(TEXAS TRIBUNE) Late this summer, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry strongly encouraged U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul to challenge U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz's re-election bid in 2018, according to GOP sources.
The encouragement, which was relayed to The Texas Tribune by two Republican sources familiar with the correspondence, came around the same time that McCaul, an Austin Republican, emerged as a top potential challenger to Cruz's re-election efforts, amid an outcry among many grassroots conservatives over Cruz's decision not to endorse presidential nominee Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention.

Good for Perry. I actually supported Cruz over Trump in the Texas primary. Trump won and Cruz didn’t endorce Trump over Hillary at the convention, hoping to ride it out until 2020, which meant he didn’t understand why I was originally for him (SCOTUS, clean up Washington), and not the person.

McCaul is NOT a true conservative. I have written to him several times regarding his voting record or lack of support for conservative issues. He always sends me canned letters with talking points that do not address my questions. Cruz disappointed me, but he is more conservative than McCaul.

Hi, friend. Obama placed one Castro brother in office over Federal Housing, in DC. The other Castro is high up in San Antonio.. maybe mayor. I need to brush up on these two lemmings. Juan Castro, I believe, is one brother.
The one in DC does not comport himself well. I watched him in a mark up committee.

My first thought was.. “at least he is honest”.
Cruz you recall had a silver tongue on the issue, but then facilitated everything the Chamber of Commerce wanted, on TPA. LOL.
