(TEXAS TRIBUNE) Late this summer, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry strongly encouraged U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul to challenge U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz's re-election bid in 2018, according to GOP sources.
The encouragement, which was relayed to The Texas Tribune by two Republican sources familiar with the correspondence, came around the same time that McCaul, an Austin Republican, emerged as a top potential challenger to Cruz's re-election efforts, amid an outcry among many grassroots conservatives over Cruz's decision not to endorse presidential nominee Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention.

He is that terribly handsome congressman serving on Homeland Security Committee and frequent FOX news guest on the border issue. He comes from money, I read, and would be interested in running, IF, if there is plenty of PAC money to mount a solid challenge against the Wall Street money Cruz has put away.
I will actively support any challenger against Cruz.
It will be terribly expensive battle in Texas if Castro from San Antonio runs. Those Castro boys are being propped up and groomed as mules for the socialist Democrats trying to turn TEXAS blue.
