Now for some real speculation. what if, just what if, Weiner knew the passwords and login names Huma used, and told the FBI/NYPD/any law enforcement: "I will get the evidence you want in the Clinton case in exchange for immunity in the sexting case."
They temporarily give him his laptop back and he burrows deep into their network retrieving the evidence they want, and can't get permission to go after, while they watch.
