“The FBI has the legal authority to force Yahoo to disclose whether IPs belonging to third parties, including foreign third parties, had access to read in real time – and in non-redacted form – emails that Abedin forwarded to humamabedin@yahoo.com that ended up on Wiener’s laptop.”

Bingo. All someone needs in order to gain access to a web-based account like Yahoo is the user name and password. Emails stored on it would not need to be forwarded in order to be shared.

We have confirmed, based on a recent investigation, that a copy of certain user account information was stolen from our network in late 2014 by what we believe is a state-sponsored actor. https://help.yahoo.com/kb/account/SLN27925.html

Congress has, connected to their power to investigate, the authority to issue a subpoena which if not complied with can result in a finding of contempt followed by imprisonment of the contemnor, which in this instance likely would be the CEO.

Since Weiner appears to have Huma’s password, the NYPD and the FBI can get into the Yahoo account.

The NYPD most likely has already gotten in there.
