Harry Reid: FBI Director’s ‘Partisan Actions’ May Violate Federal Law
Wall Street Journal ^ | 2016-10-30 | Michael Bender

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid said FBI Director James Comey may have violated a federal law when he disclosed, less than two weeks before the presidential election, that his office was pursuing potential new evidence related to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of state.

Mr. Reid was preparing to send a letter to Mr. Comey on Sunday saying he appears to be aiding one political party over another. He said that may violate the Hatch Act, which bars government officials from using their position to influence an election.

“I am writing to inform you that my office has determined that these actions may violate the Hatch Act,” the Senate minority leader wrote, according to a draft of the letter provided to The Wall Street Journal. “Through your partisan actions, you may have broken the law.”

I believe the hatch act simply states that a gov employee can’t join or manage a political campaign- I’m not aware of comey joining or managing the trump campaign as a paid employee?

Perhaps the hatch act states something different?

[[The act stated,”[N]o officer or employee in the Executive Branch of the Federal government, or in any agency or department thereof, shall take any active part in political management or in political campaigns”]]

Federal employees may–

register and vote as they choose
assist in voter registration drives
express opinions about candidates and issues
participate in campaigns where none of the candidates represent a political party
contribute money to political organizations or attend political fund raising functions
attend political rallies and meetings
join political clubs or parties
sign nominating petitions
campaign for or against referendum questions, constitutional amendments, municipal ordinances

Federal employees may not–

be candidates for public office in partisan elections
campaign for or against a candidate or slate of candidates in partisan elections
make campaign speeches
collect contributions or sell tickets to political fund raising functions
distribute campaign material in partisan elections
organize or manage political rallies or meetings
hold office in political clubs or parties
circulate nominating petitions
work to register voters for one party only
wear political buttons at work

Harry’s evil. I haven’t ever said that about any politician, including Hillary, but it’s true what they say about Harry.

So Harry you can now be charged with the same, as well as interfering with an active investigation.

Yeah, he also said that Trump was a Russian agent. Looks like he’s trying to beat out Nancy Pelosi for most bat-shit insane member of congress.

You are ‘forgetting’ the one that said Guam would tip over if we sent ‘one more Marine’ there, and the woman who said we planted a flag on Mars, the one that said HUNDREDS of slaves were fed to the sharks on a daily basis and ALL those that say FDR give his new deal on a nationwide TV address.
Like the ‘joke’ of picture of A Lincoln with the caption.
‘Don’t believe everything you hear on the internet just because it is a quote and there is a picture. Signed A. Lincoln’

The Harsh Act?, give me a break!! I happen to know a thing or two about the Act and it is preposterous to claim the Hatch Act prevents the Bureau from doing its job at any point in the political process. Just a dumb, corrupt, biased, stupid hack trying to influence the election. Indeed, he is more in violation of the Hatch Act than the Comey.

Well, you know the ‘old’ saying

“Birds of a feather, crap on your car together”

Birdy, Birdy in the sky,
You who drop whitewash in my Eye

Am I sad,
No, Not I

Only glad that Cows can’t fly.

Found this on wikipedia:

It provided that persons below the policy-making level in the executive branch of the federal government must not only refrain from political practices that would be illegal for any citizen, but must abstain from "any active part" in political campaigns, using this language to specify those who are exempt:[5]

(i) an employee paid from an appropriation for the Executive Office of the President; or

(ii) an employee appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, whose position is located within the United States, who determines policies to be pursued by the United States in the nationwide administration of Federal laws.

The director of the FBI is appointed by the President with the advise and consent of the senate. I'm thinking he has a hand in determining "policies to be pursued by the United States in the nationwide administration of Federal laws".

Seems like the Hatch Act doesn't apply to Comey. I'm guessing he knew that before he proceeded with this.

My response to his office this morning was that the repugnant corrupt hypocrite needed to go ahead and step down and not wait until the end of his term.
