I had the same thing happen on my phone. it drove me crazy till I figured it out. In case your phone is set up differently, go to where you would delete or modify the app in the settings.

It seemed to work for me ... thanks to all who made the suggestion. The CONSTANT Yahoo "breaking News" interruptions were driving m crazy. =)
