With 1000 dollar a month premiums and 8000 dollar deductibles, they’d have to fine 12000 dollars a year to make buying their insurance a cost effective choice.

Yep, I paid the penalty the first year, have had insurance the past 2 years and never met my deductible (got $0 in co-pays). I’m better off paying out of pocket, by far.
