-- Sure it does. The polls have had Trump losing, but gut instinct is, he's winning. Comey didn't get where he his by not having a sound gut instinct. He knows what's coming in November, and that he F-ed up in July, and now he's trying to land on his feet, somehow. --

So why does he have to make a public announcement days before the election, under that scenario?

My gut tells me his chestnuts are roasted. Trump doesn't trust him, and never will. If Comey obstructed justice, he can't undo that crime by committing a good deed. The best he can hope for is to not be the target of an independent investigator, and the best way to assure that is to tank Trump.

I do agree that a second coat of whitewash in a week is too short timing. But if Crooked wins, a second coat before inauguration would be a nice touch. Comey's gut instict may be the one the media intends, Crooked in a landslide.

Nice sharing speculation, thanks.

No reason for Comey to do anything, if he expected Her Crookedness to win.

But he senses she'll lose, and, competent rat that he his, he knows how to desert a sinking ship. Even better, how to make sure it sinks by blowing a big hole below the waterline before abandoning.

The Weiner evidence is just a convenient excuse for his change of course.
