I will have to look up the info, but the ballclub is named after a dear member of the organization in his HONOR. Applying current PC paradigms to historical figures, language and ideas is so dangerous and small-minded.
Chief Wahoo looks like he knows something everybody else hasn’t figured out yet.
Back before the Washington Wizards NBA franchise changed their name, they were known as “The Washington Bullets”.
Many people were concerned that this name was associated with crime and violence, so the team offered drop the offensive term and change their name to “The Bullets”.
Dont we have better things to consider? The following website has well over 100 listing of high schools in the US that are using American Indian names or mascots:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sports_team_names_and_mascots_derived_from_indigenous_peoples
If you look it up, make some time because you’ll be there a while

Him go happy hunting ground?
Me sad.
Ijuns don't care either.
Only the race industry cares.
Cleveland Indians Fans:
If you want to hear more of this nonsense in the years to come, vote for Hillary Clinton.
If you want to have a President who will fight PC nonsense, and restore common sense to American politics, vote for Donald Trump.
Political correctness is on it’s way out.
It’s all a part of the Trump wave.
It’s really hard to upset a real Indian.
“The name “Indians” originated from a request by club owner Charles Somers to baseball writers to choose a new name to replace “Cleveland Naps” following the departure of Nap Lajoie after the 1914 season. The name referenced the nickname “Indians” that was applied to the Cleveland Spiders baseball club during the time when Louis Sockalexis, a Native American, played in Cleveland.[3] Common nicknames for the Indians include the “Tribe” and the “Wahoos”, the latter being a reference to their logo, Chief Wahoo, a controversial Native American caricature. The team’s mascot is named “Slider.”

I would update Chief Wahoo, by having him wear a ‘Make America Great Again’ cap...
Yes, the player the team is named for was Nick Sockolis (spelling?), who was a Penobscot Indian. The owner decided to change the Spiders to the Indians, to honor him.
Okay, two can play this game.... :-)
It’s Injuns. And I know Injuns who, being some of the nicest people around, call themselves that.
The only unlikable Injun I ever knew was half Scottish.
I guess he was internally conflicted somehow but, he was a nut more than any thing else.
(We all have some kind kind of nut inside)
If the left is truly serious about eliminating all cultural references of the original native Americans, nuking a few team logos is a pointless waste of time: they need to eradicate every geographic reference in our nation that uses a native American word and cleanse our dictionary of all native American words as well.
HAVING lived in the Northeastern Ohio area and been to many baseball games in what used to be called Jacobs Field and now is known at Progressive field....the fans will not take such a change in the clubs historically connected logo lying down. THIS was tried in the 95 and 97 by the PC bunch and as you can see the logo and team name remain
