I wonder if they’re trying to keep a veneer of truthfulness. An audit of voting programs would reveal vote switching code, but poorly calibrated? No evidence there.
The story that blew my mind was that a person voted electronically for one party but when he looked at the results the other party’s candidate was printed. He tried 2 more times with the same bad results. Then he called on a poll worker, who also tried with the same mistake, the poll worker tried a second time and finally the correct result. So then the question, how many votes were reversed, but the voter never looked to be sure his candidate was printed.
