For his sake, one would hope he had a good finance manager. These players are so young, come from such poor and/or dysfunctional homes, suddenly making big bucks, with NO idea how to save, spend, or invest their money. Bling isn’t an investment, neither is owning 10 ‘hot’ cars.
Many years ago we worked with the then-divorcing wife of a well-known NFL player, who had several Super Bowl rings. Back then he was making millions a year. Always broke, bouncing checks. spending more than he was making (after the agent’s cut, of course). Even long term players are maybe 35 y/o at retirement? Most are 22-25 years old.
