If we contemplate the promises of Jesus Christ we should not fear death. We may fear pain and that is only a human reaction and understandable.
On Friday morning, a New Haven, CT, lawyer named Diane "Cookie" Polan died of a brain cancer. She had a lot of moral problems. Although she had born twins of her legitimate husband, she had subsequently been "married" to her lesbian "partner."
IF works alone could get her to heaven, she would have a good case. She was as tough and effective a criminal lawyer as New Haven has known and that is saying something. She litigated leftist causes and did not worry about receiving fees from poor kids criminally charged. I don't really believe that works can get her to heaven. I don't think she believed in God but I don't KNOW that. Having practiced law for decades in New Haven, I never met her but I admired her professionalism and I hope that God will have mercy on her soul.
In any event, may God bless you and yours.
His word says deeds don’t get you into heaven, look what he told the rich man who said he’d followed all the tenets of the Jewish religion since a child, but would not give up his wealth and position to follow Christ.
No good deeds don’t get you to heaven. Only through the acceptance of Christ into your heart does that. Then we get the Well Done Good and Faithful Servant acknowledgement.
I don’t fear death, it is but the gateway to a new body, and sitting at the Master’s feet where we will be young again and never grow old. Enjoy. Paid in Full by the Blood of the Lamb https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fyzYWDil
