The average college graduate (especially now) is a useful idiot who accepts any declaration from the mainstream media as established fact, and asserts every leftist meme from the secular academia as unassailable truth. (Just having technical skills in a specifically-demarcated industry does not equate with being truly educated and generally knowledgeable.)
They are more - not less - likely to be the mindless, vegetative cogitators in a jostling, collectivist herd.
Clive Staples [C. S.] Lewis well understood this, and vividly delineated it in his extraordinary science fiction novel, That Hideous Strength.
