Yeah...I admit to thinking rather one-dimensionally about it, since it is possible there are systems that have multiple terminal guidance modes, optical, infrared, emissions, radar, maybe combinations of all and more. I haven’t followed it that closely, so missiles of today probably have all those things.
I would expect the designers would work to minimize the thermal emissions as well, but I suppose there is only so far one can go.
But for size, it reminds me of a civil war tin can.
I’m not surprised about the LCS teething problems: everything on these ships is new, including the contractor (some Italian shipbuilder) and the construction methods.
I had heard rumors about powerplant issues, but if you can toast the thing that easily through user error without some kind of check...that’s just bad design.
Damn it.
My guess is the next one will be called the “Harvey Milk,” or the “Rue Paul.”

If you look at the specs the Z is almost exactly the same size but about 10 feet broader in the beam.
