What must going through the minds of active military forces if the following would be true:

1. Obama stations military ships off Yemen.

2. Obama provides hundreds of millions of dollars in ransom money to Iran.

3. Iran uses the ransom money to purchase anti-ship missiles and gives them to Houthi rebels.

4. The Houthi rebels use the missiles to try to kill military forces stationed off Yemen.

Iran doesn’t need to supply missiles to the Houthis. Check any of the dozens of Houthi cellphone videos on Liveleak, showing attacks on Saudi hill forts. When the (often barefoot) Houthis easily overrun the forts they find huge amounts of ordnance, usually way more than they can carry away. And why would the Iranians want to attack the USN, when Obama gives them everything they want?

Things like radar sites?

"And why would the Iranians want to attack the USN, when Obama gives them everything they want?"

Good point. They really don't mean it when they chant "Death to America."

A reasonable logistical assignment, by Obama-Jarrett, should a wag-the-dog diversion be needed to drag HRC over the line on Nov. 8.

A Mosul Operation looks similar.

Perhaps they fear the TRUMP win, and want to deliver him an unforgettable hand off. WAR.

If the Saudis and Iranians want to massacre each other by proxy in Yemen we should let them. The US has basically been purchased by the Saudi royal family. We are an occupied county.

I am awestruck at the recklessness of our foreign policy. We need to be walking back both rhetoric and actions in the entire middle east and seek an equitable compromise with the Russians.

I have no confidence whatsoever not only in Obama, Kerry, and Clinton but also in the leadership of the US intelligence community and senior brass in the Pentagon. Lick spittle politicians in uniforms. We seem utterly unable to learn the lessons that Vietnam, two Iraq wars, Libya, and half a dozen other miscalculations should have taught us.

We can’t play these kinds of games anymore.

.. they really don't mean it when they chant "Death to America." ..

.. if by 'they' you mean everyone from eastern Pakistan to western Morocco, yes. Nothing a few more missile and drone strikes can't fix, right? Say hello to your BFFs at Raytheon for me, Byron

This continues because we let it. I guess everybody wants to get their licks in before Trump takes over.

I’d hate to be on that ship. One of these days one of those missiles might get a hit, and then we’re going to be in a world of hurt.

Maybe that’s the idea: get a US ship sunk, and scores or hundreds of casualties.

Then we can go to war in Yemen, too...

According to the article, the ship is the USS Mason, which is DDG-87, an Arleigh Burke US ship. The Swift is a UAE vessel not the Mason.

BTW, a hull number that high makes me feel old since I served aboard the USS Hoel DDG-13. :=)

I’m not a hawk or a warmonger, but I won’t stand for getting poked. If this boat does take a hit, it’s on obama for letting it stand.

Back up the bus! Post 14 says this is NOT an active duty US Navy ship anymore. If the UAE owns it and mans it, I don’t care if the rebels in Yemen sink the damn thing. That’s a problem for the UAE — not US.

Not correct. This article is about the US Destroyer Mason being attacked a third time by the Iranian backed Houthis in Yemen. The reference to the Australian Built, formerly leased to the US Navy Swift HSV that currently belongs to the UAE that was almost sunk by a Houthi missile was for the purpose of showing the extent of the assaults by the Houthis in the area. Nothing more.

This is about three attempts by hostiles to damage, or destroy one of our Naval vessels in that region. Significant.

You should have read what was posted in its entirety before you commented your inaccurate comment. I just had to explain to another reader in detail your errant post.

Byron, please tell all of us exactly what kind of Raytheon weapons these are. You have not, as of yet, done so.

".. if by 'they' you mean everyone from eastern Pakistan to western Morocco, yes."

The "they" I was referring to was the Iranians. Please pay attention.

"Nothing a few more missile and drone strikes can't fix, right?"

WTF does this have to do with the Mason being fired on?

"Say hello to your BFFs at Raytheon for me, Byron"

Look up their contact information and say hello yourself.

...Houthi rebels used C-801, less advanced than C-802, which is a knock-off of our Exocet.

Unless you are posting from France, this is total BS. The Exocet has always been a French anti-ship missile.

On Monday, Hellary will say that we should destroy all Yemeni missile bases.

On Tuesday, Obama will launch several drone strikes against Yemeni targets, and say it’s to prevent missile attacks against US ships.

.. please tell all of us exactly what kind of Raytheon weapons these are ..

.. as already explained, the kind you might find in a Jizan hill fort - which if you had bothered to check out Houthi Liveleak videos, you would already know.

Look, I'm sorry to trigger your safe space by questioning Obama Pentagon press releases. If you ever tire of that sweet tasting Kool Aid, do a little research:

It was originally claimed by the National Security Agency that a Second Gulf of Tonkin incident occurred on August 4, 1964, as another sea battle, but instead evidence was found of "Tonkin ghosts"[7] (false radar images) and not actual North Vietnamese torpedo boats. In the 2003 documentary The Fog of War, the former United States Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara admitted that the August 2 USS Maddox attack happened with no Defense Department response, but the August 4 Gulf of Tonkin attack never happened
